I had been wearing rugby shorts over cycling bib tights so as to save face when I get to work

Today I was in a rush, and amongst other things I forgot to put shorts on, and no soreness today.

Maybe some of the shorts were getting in and rubbing?
Er...yeah.

This is a little like one of those it support calls

Hi my pc is not working, I've tried everything.

Is the PC turned on?

Yes

Is the light on the front?

No

Is it plugged in?

I cant tell, its too dark I my office to see under the desk

Can you turn a light on?

No they don't work

Why?

Because of the power cut.

Click brrrrrrr

So, yes its the extra (and baggy) shorts that are the issue.

Our work here is done!!

Sorry for the patronising post but I cant resist the opportunity.

No worries, I can never resist either

I knew that wearing boxers, or underwear under them would cause an issue. Never thought that shorts on top would.

Though no pain or discomfort at all today or tonight.

+1

If I had suspected "overshorts", I would have asked.

When I first got a road bike, I also got unbelievably painful blisters between my thumb and index fingers. It turned out to be the seam on by gloves. A seam which is on almost every pair of high-end gloves, which is why I happily wear the cheapest Louis Garneau gloves I have found. No seams

You need to clean up when you get to work because this sounds like soreness from sweat to me that if not attended to immediately will attract fungus just like athletes foot.

I ride a single speed in the summer...only on Fridays mind you and am occasionally tempted to wear loose shorts, just for a change.

I always regret it the next day.

Glad you solved the problem.
