Runny nose to cough cycle !

The cold weather starts my nose running, which ultimately leads to a cough and chest infection. Ive tried nasal spray to stop the runny nose in the first place - also tried pulling a scarf over my face - any other ideas ?

its not the runny nose as such - you just blow your snout !!- but with me it causes post nasal drip, which makes me very vulnerable to chest infections.... it went on until may one year !

Go discuss with a doctor, get referred to a specialist. A runny nose from cold weather should not lead to more severe symptoms without a virus or respiratory condition like asthma in the equation

My nose runs on the bike but it's never caused an illness (unless I also had a cold brewing)

Most folk get a runny nose on the bike, especially in cold weather. What it shouldn't do is make you prone to chest infections. I'm rarely ill from colds, flu or chest issues (now falling off a bike is a different story).

Yes, if your nose runs when your on the bike its not a problem. But when the cold triggers and reaction and you get post nasal drip - which means your mucus production shifts up a gear - and doesn't stop post bike ride - then it causes problems ie infections, chest infections

Sounds like some sort of immune deficiency - go get it diagnosed.

presume you are not uk based ? - mention an illness or injury which involves a sporting activity and your out the door quicker than you can say "£150k pa"

Why the angst ? - I just don't find GP'S very helpful for anything sport related - thats my experience - its a common complaint in the UK - THATS WHAY i asked if you were UK based.

If you have a genuine health issue, then your GP is duty-bound to investigate it, or refer you to someone else who can. I don't understand your apathy about GPs, I have never had any such issues.
