rusty chain, does it need a new one

just to say bike all sorted and I am very happy. Replaced chain. Replaced rear brake cable. Reused old rear brake cable on front. Gallons of GT85 grease and oil left right and centre. Really nice bike for 5-10km rides for a teenager and if she doesn't use it it will be back in the lock up for another few years. Non-suss aluminium mtb with suspension seat post. Semi slick tyres.

:stop:With a rusty and stiff/seized chain the insides WILL be rusty as well which will wear out VERY fast even if you cleaned it off with a wire brush and got it looking perfect.
It will also wear the rest of the drive train at a fast rate.
Basically not worth doing.
If it was just surface rust I might give it a go, but in the end it's a cheap service part so get a new one.
