I often travel with Ryanair. I know their system well and never have any problems, even when travelling with my bike. I like the fact that I can get on with a small case and dont have to wait for the carousel to bring my case to me. But that has changed as from today.
Ryanair has decided that from the 1st November, non priority passengers can only take on board a small bag such as a handbag or laptop bag. Small suitcases which are allowed as cabin baggage at the moment will be carried in the hold free of charge. They are also increasing the weight limit of paid hold luggage from 15kg to 20kg and reducing the standard fee for 20kg luggage.
They are doing this to reduce delays in take off times. I know what they mean. It seems to take an age for people to find an overhead locker for their luggage.
However, priority boarders will continue to be able to keep the small suitcase and extra bag on the plane. Clever move by Ryanair. So from November 1st just expect every passenger to become a priority passenger.
