I often travel with Ryanair. I know their system well and never have any problems, even when travelling with my bike. I like the fact that I can get on with a small case and dont have to wait for the carousel to bring my case to me. But that has changed as from today.

Ryanair has decided that from the 1st November, non priority passengers can only take on board a small bag such as a handbag or laptop bag. Small suitcases which are allowed as cabin baggage at the moment will be carried in the hold free of charge. They are also increasing the weight limit of paid hold luggage from 15kg to 20kg and reducing the standard fee for 20kg luggage.

They are doing this to reduce delays in take off times. I know what they mean. It seems to take an age for people to find an overhead locker for their luggage.

However, priority boarders will continue to be able to keep the small suitcase and extra bag on the plane. Clever move by Ryanair. So from November 1st just expect every passenger to become a priority passenger.

Last time I flew down to the South of France to see my son it cost £35 return, I was very happy with Ryanair.

I have flights booked for the family holiday in Feb, I wonder what they will do for that as I paid for a couple of 20kg bags. Will I be getting a refund?
It's his USP I don't like. His method of being controversial to get airtime isn't one that impresses me as a business model. The appalling disability attitude was a while ago, but still smarts. Publicly stating that they would "unfortunately" have to add 50p to all tickets to cover the cost of disabled assistance at some airports.
How else should they pay for them, ask disabled people to bear the full cost themselves? Ryanair operate on a minimal profit per passenger basis, extra costs cannot be absorbed.

That's a company that I will never use again, at any price.

Our flight to Pisa was diverted to Genoa (not their fault) which is an airport where they have no presence. En route, flight staff assured us (200+ passengers) that they'd already arranged coaches to take us onward. The lying farkers then turned the plane around and buggered off. There were no buses.

Yes, they can be cheap and problems can arise even for quality busineses, but the test of any company is how it handles such problems. Dumping a plane-load of your customers 200 miles from their destination with no information, no assistance, no contact number, and washing your hands of them is piss poor service that, in my opinion, is unforgivable.

It's about expectation for me. If you know what's going to happen then accept it. It wouldn't bother me...adapt and accept if that's the way they operate.

Not sure I've ever flown Ryanair,...maybe once mid noughties.

That is gobsmacking. Won't stop me using them, mind, but wow. After they'd explicitly told you there were buses. If anyone had filmed that on their Samsung you could probably take out a class action. Brazen. I guess they're just playing follow my leader...
