Does anybody ride one of these ?

I was curious so built one with a Mavic Open Elite rim 32 DB Sapim spokes.

It makes a change from fixed, I haven't quite mastered the change every time yet but it should become easier with practice.

I have it set up with a low gear of 52.6 inches and an high gear of 72.6 inches, the low gear is direct drive, there is no noticeable drag in high gear and 20mph is easily achieved.

I have thought about building a bike so equipped but not got there yet

Can see some advantages but why not go the whole hog and use an older fashioned sturmey archer hub 3 speed or more hub ?

You cannot back-pedal to position the cranks when stationary.

Do you have the Coaster Brake version ? you can backpedal with the freewheel version but this may result in a gear change.
