there's nothing wrong with the female model... not too sure about the male model though.... ;) and yes, they are worth it and thankfully the kits lasts for years and years if looked after.

I don't look at the female models, there is no chance their stuff would fit me (nor would I spend £200 on a pair of shorts)

I wish the OP would come back with some comments or replies; there's an outpouring of good advice here yet no acknowledgement.

I've been back cycling for almost 2 months now. I had a gel overlay on my saddle, which I ditched.
I then bought a new saddle with a female specific cut out.
Only now after 2 months, is my butt used to the saddle, and the soreness has gone.
I comfortably ride 12 miles with no pain.
As I am a laydeee, I will not reveal what I wear under my Lycra

I've never paid more than £90 for their shorts - which fit my hips exceptionally well (tops are another matter entirely). Winter tights were around £140 direct from wiggle when I needed them very quickly. If I have looked around and searched I could have got them for £125.

Let's just say I don't think assos make ladies shorts in my size...and knowing my luck I'd stack it the first ride out and rip the shorts to shreds, £125 is still a lot - I try to get £70 shorts on special at half price, work for me. I have barely ever spent that much money on a single item of clothing, IF ever!

Sorry but I simply can't believe a £150 pair of fancy Italian shorts are any better than my £75 dhb shorts. There's only so much lycra in them and probably the most expensive component is the pad, which probably comes from the same supplier anyway. One thing I do know about consumer products marketing is that if you sell things cheap, people don't believe they can be any good. Suntour found this out the hard way when they launched their Superbe Pro lightweight groupset, better than anything Shimano or Campag had but it flopped because they priced it too cheap and the team managers thought it wasn't any good. A costly mistake.

Fair enough.. However, I found myself paying those £75.00 for dhb (or even worse: for Specialized and equivalent) far too many times to count them as 'value for money'. I have Specialized shorts that fell to pieces within a season (and without use to justify it), Campagnolo longs developing tatty wear within 3 months and I can go on forever. My Rapha look good as new, going 4th season now and a couple that didn't live up to my expectations they were replaced by Rapha with apologies (after a good few months and a fair amount of use after the purchase). So... happy to pay double the price ONCE! :becool:

DHB don't fit me either...my current faves are Sportful (half price from Sigma), Gore good too

I can't imagine Rapha would fit me either (nor my CC)...I like new stuff, so happy to buy cheaper and replace

DHB don't fit me either but Altura ergo fit is perfect fit for me , current pair have done over 15000 miles and are nearly done which I think for £60 I paid is great value.

I have recently started using Doc's chamois cream from Planet X and I have to say it is the best thing for me since sliced bread although I don't suggest spreading it on sliced bread. Very good and all natural too!

Is the OP short-legged? Short legs on standard-length 170mm cranks results in a lot of hip movement - this can cause the backside to "walk" across the saddle, which generates sores. AFAICT, this is not adequately addressed by most bike fittings, because it's really difficult to get short cranks.
