Just wait 'til the Galaxy S6 is out, these don't hold their value particularly well, and the S5 should be more affordable then.

FWIW, on the S4, you can eke even more battery life from it by switching all the surplus gubbins (the thing that detects whether you're looking at it, &c) off - I'd assume you can make your S5 even more frugal in the same way.
You can turn off everything even calls and txts not to be distracted

Co-Pilot speaks to you like Tomtom though so better for driving. Agree Google maps are perfectly fine just for checking roads, etc.
Navfree also talks to you and no Internet connection needed just gps

Wait 'til it goes wrong, Samsung customer service is appalling.
I had the Galaxy S 3 which was a top end phone in its day. They (Samsung) produced a firmware update which ruined the phone. Buggy, poor battery life, dropped calls etc, etc.
Samsung refused to accept responsibility and we're prepared to do very little to rectify the fault. Moreover, there are countless reports of phones being lost, damaged or returned in an even worse state after being sent off to service centre for repair.
I'd have a good read of Samsung Mobile UK Facebook page before you go Samsung. Personally speaking, I'll never buy another Samsung product.
I now have an Xperia Z 2 and it is a magnificent phone.

I'm back with HTC now, now that they've got their mojo back with the M8.
What do you like about the M8 vs other phone ?
I've only had it a couple of weeks. HTC smashed it with the Desire but then lost their way. Samsung has been the best up until now. This time it was between Sony and the M8, and we've had an awful experience with Sony. The M8 has great build quality, is a good size, does everything quickly and runs Android. And I got it for no outlay and £18.50/month.

There are too many reasons for me not to have an ipHone than to have one.
Ok thanks just wondered.

I had the Desire then went to the S3 but got sick of all the Samsung crapware, then this time I have the Moto G and I love it mainly for the form factor and the price but the performance I think is better than the S3 which is remarkable considering the price.

What I was saying is how can you compare the sales of the iphone i.e. the entire range of phones that have the Apple OS to the Galaxy which is a tiny selection of the phones that carry Android, of course the iphone will out sell them.
But we are not comparing operating systems but phones. Of course Android OS outsells IOS. In case you hadn't noticed the thread is entitled "Samsung Galaxy S5", so the comparison is phones in that sector of the market. I was comparing the sales of like for like phones and there is no more valid comparison than between Galaxy and iPhones.

You're just not hip enough, that's the only reason that counts, dude.
I think not choosing to have an iPhone is much more hip. I hate when people have to throw in iphone to the convoy instead there's my phone ringing or I got this new app for my phone . It's as if they need to state they are a trend slave to apple.
Having said this we all get phones for different reasons weather it be price, the screen size, preferences platform or simplicity to use.
I don't think any phone is the best as it depends on the user's needs that's why the galaxy s5 does it for me

Ok not convinced but anyway, the reason I think that iphones out sell the Samsungs in that analogy is probably a lot down to product loyalty. Apple customers seem to be very loyal to the brand where as Android customers go where the best deal is.

Take me for instance I went from the Samsung S3 the the Moto G, why ? because the Moto is a great phone and it is cheap so I can stop paying silly prices for contract phones and just buy it out right then get a Sim Only Plan. Also I hate the Samsung crapware I find it intensely annoying and with the Moto I get the Nexus pure Android experience, which was also why I got rid of my Samsung Tab 2 and went for the Nexus 32gb Tablet.

It would be interesting to see what would happen if people had to actually pay up front for their phone at the full retail price instead of getting it bundled in an easy payment contract, I suspect that many people would start looking around for a better deal.

Definitely! There is no way I would be paying over £600 for a phone outright. Was reading reviews on the Moto yesterday and it was coming out really well and surpassing phones costing two or three times more.

Yes the Moto is a remarkable phone for the price, I couldnt get over the fact that the first week I had it I got the battery to last 3 days and I didnt have to switch off the WiFi to do it I was gob smacked.
