I prefer the smaller screen it fits in the pocket better and feels better in my hand when I am talking on it, not to mention longer battery life. The 4G version would have been a better bet for future proofing, but it had half the memory my phone has so I went for the 3G one.
Hull was one of the first 4G areas and I can't see it would do much for me, 3G seems plenty fast enough for my useage - I won't be watching movies on it. The Lenovo is a LOT bigger than the phone it replaced (waterproof Sony Go!) and really too bulky in an armband out running. Moto G seems about ideal size.
I think Steve Jobs was right with the iPhone 5 screen size, it's a decent compromise between usability and screen size. I can't get the 5" Lenovo phone in a jeans pocket and sit down comfortably, as well as concern over damaging it at the same time. And you look faintly silly with the big screen phones against the side of your head.
Of course smartwatches are the answer, the stuff you actually use all the time available at a glance without having to pull out a big slab of a phone, but it's there when you need navigation or a keyboard.
Apart from a brief period with a company iPhone 4, I've always had android phones, as far back as the venerable and still missed (by me)
