In the last 2 weeks i must have had 2 dozen + junk e mails from people suggesting various things the screen shot below is this mornings selection

Returning to the original problem, like others have suggested, Thunderbird mail client seems to kill most of the smutty type of emails before they reach my mailbox.

Equally, my googlemail inbox is never plagued by spam.

An abandoned email address hosted by Talk Talk currently has 5,500 emails in it. I emptied it a year ago so that's around 100 spam messages per week - the bulk of the emails are peddling porn, watches, erectile disfunction medication, the last time I emptied it of a similar number of emails - I found just two that were legacy communications from a service alst used six years ago.
