Never made or AFAIK eaten it before but for some reason its just come into my head.
I will batch cook maybe 6 portions.
6 sausages, browned.
Onion, browned.
Mushrooms and peppers from the freezer.
Potatoes.
Can of toms.
500mm-ish stock.
Worcestershire sauce.
Whatever spices jump off the shelf
Slow cooker for 6 hours.......looks good on paper.

1 sausage per portion, we obviously have different thoughts on portion size 🤣

I do like a slow cooker sausage casserole though, might be personal choice but I would add a tin of baked beans, and bin the mushrooms!

exactly my thought too!

I remember going away for the weekend with the now Mrs T, with some friends of hers and I'd offered to do the arrival day evening meal, as we were arriving quite early after doing some cycling down there (and I'm a modest and brilliant cook :okay: ) , but the lady organising it insisted that she would do it.

We got an insipid sausage casserole with 1.5 cheapo sausages per person.

Good point re the sausage portions though they are good thick ones. I will mull that over, maybe do 4 portions ?

I like a slow cooked sausage, it loses all integrity and melts - does sometimes look like a floating finger.

Sausages should be best quality you can afford, preferably from your local butcher (venison sausages are an excellent alternative later in wonter IMO); 6 is only enough for 3 portions!

Add a couple of rashers of bacon, diced

Leave out potatoes; tomato purée is better than a can of toms

Leave out the stock, use red wine instead, the cheapest you would be happy to drink is best

Spices: garlic, thyme and bay plus salt and pepper to your taste

End result is a super supper!
