Saying Hello When Passing / Ettiquette

I offer sex to every other cyclist I pass. Only about 1 in 4 take the offer.

Miserable bunch.

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
To greet a fellow roadie an almost imperceptible raising from the bars of the smallest finger of the right hand should suffice, anything more is embarrassingly excessive ....

Hello!

I got passed about 2 weeks ago by a fella on a roadie. He said "hello mate" and it made me smile.

Then, yesterday, the first time I've passed someone else since this incident and I didn't say hello.

The etiquette part of cycling is somewhat of a mystery to me, as I've yet to ride with other cycling enthusiasts and I'm still a bit green.

Anyway - should I have said hello?

I'm also interested in hearing peoples thoughts on this in general TBF.

There is no etiquette. You aren't part of some special subgroup of humanity with attendant rituals. You share the preoccupation with visual/audible acknowledgement with 2CV owners, MG Midget owners, MGB GT owners, Parcelforce truck drivers, Land Rover drivers, motor cyclists, Sainsbury home delivery drivers, Tesco Home delivery drivers, Norbet Detressangle truck drivers, Stobart truck drivers, bus drivers from the same company, taxi drivers from the same taxi company and other minority motorised road user groups. It's nearly as bad as the folk who list their bike collection in their sig lines.

They are all nobbers.

Be a Jedi like @Marmion and make the world a better place.

I always say hello/good morning/hiya or whatever, but I don't normally care whether the other party acknowledges me.

A while ago I was just behind someone doing a trackstand at the lights, and I cheerfully said hi, and something along the lines of how I wish I could do that.
Completely ignored me, which I did find rather rude.
