Apologies if this is old news, but I got this in my spam box today. Apart from the grammatical errors and the suspicious nature of the content, it could have been quite convincing:

I clicked on the link to "log into your paypal account" and some address in Mexico appeared in my toolbar. As expected, they were phishing for my account details and password (which they didn't get!), bar stewards

.

Have reported it to Paypal. Apparently genuine e-mails from PayPal will always refer to you by name rather than "Dear PayPal member"...........

Of course the giveaway is the request for details. This does not happen.

Standard practice from all organisations is basic and follow these two rues and you will not go to far wrong:

1. They will never provide a link - you are expected to log in to the website, hence avoiding fraudulent sites, never contact any numbers or sites given in an email
2. You will never be asked for information in an email, especially account details

Had one this morning but unfortunately mine was not a scam .... Had a $1000 charges on my paypal account. Got caught out by laziness, if you use the same password for your email account as you do for forums change it now !!!! Currently hackers are targeting forums to get email address and password information. Generally people use the same password, so they can put one and one together and drain your account. I was lucky that paypal alerted me so early , if they have your email details they also have access to all email alerts !!!
Hey just a warning and I am in no way implicating this forum, I am signed up to many forums and usually with the same account. I have recently started changing this but obviously one got through.
