Once overtook a oversize load on the Avenue in Southampton.....very slight downhill, but had to work hard to maintain the 25 mph or so necessary to get past. As I got to the tractor unit I realised he had a police escort, so had to overtake that too.

Mr Plod gave me a filthy look....

I have tried numerous times to set off the speed camera here:

But I have never managed to do it, despite furious pedalling down the hill and overtaking cars!

Did this once and got furiously yelled at by school-run mother. Don't bother now. If I overtake, I overtake and if I feel like they are going to get into some mad overtaking cycle with me then I don't bother.

They are a peculiar breed of driver who, despite their own appalling driving ability, think that [a] they have the right to drive their 4x4 however they please, everyone else on the road is a terrible driver/rider/pedestrian and should make allowances for them, no matter what they do.

Once, when someone pulled out their driveway and proceeded to amdle down the road at a leisurely 20ish. I was doing a wind assisted 30 mph at the time (downhill, too so no bragging rights, sadly!!) and I was blowed [1] if I were going to lose all that momentum! Took her a couple of miles to overtake me....

Had a couple of "interesting" experiences with buses pulling away from stops whilst I'm passing them: suddenly you find you can go a bit faster after all!

I often scalp cars on the road inside work. It's a 20 mph limit

Come try your scalping moves on my route, the cars are doing 50-60 mph for most of the way ! in the pitch black .
