Go for it @Mad-man . I'm with the others who reckon solo cycling is the best way. Apart from anything else, I'm usually too busy puffing and panting up hills to be able to speak . At cake stops you can always phone someone to share the moment with. You can go at YOUR pace; stop when YOU want; and go where YOU want. I've done a few solo tours and loved it - you can always find someone to talk to if you want anyway. Admittedly I am at a slight advantage in that I quite like my own company. People are great - in small doses .
I've done the Way of the Roses over two days and Morecambe to Scarborough in one. Way of the Roses route is nice as no main roads to contend with. I would say doing it East to West as you intend won't be a lot of fun as you will have a 95% chance of wind in your face and the second half of the ride will be the hilly part. Good luck whatever you decide.
Thank you all for your comments . very helpful . I am going to go from morcombe to scarbrough using way of the roses for a good part of the way , then route 68.
I will be stopping at a few cake shop thanks for that tip
The last 30 or so miles before Scarborough on the Way of the Roses is through the Yorkshire Wolds, a little-known and remote area of England with some fascinating landscapes.
I did Glossop - Scarborough this summer in a day, about 115 miles. I cycled through the Wolds and they were indeed remote and interesting. Bloody hilly having already done 85 miles or so though
