name and shame, call the police, write to your MP and threaten legal action unless they do something. Nip this completely in the bud, and yes, tell your son you will back him if he hits back in self defence (but remember, self defence is only reasonable force! don't let him pummel him to death LOL). One thing i do know about bullies. they bully kids for either being clever or ugly. i was bullied for the latter. classic case of ugly duckling though. i was 5ft when i left school, anorexically skinny, no tits, pale and plain jane. now i'm 6ft, 36 inch leg, great tits even if i do say so myself (still where they are supposed to be, not round my knees) and a lot nicer looking than i was at school which is thanks, i think, to the fact that because i don't sunbathe i look 10 years younger.... so yea, i suppose compared to how they turned out now they're all fat, wrinkly pissed up fag head chavs, i'm pretty much happy that my time has come to look down my nose at them. Very funny the day i told my most hated bully her bloke had just given me his number ha ha. as for those who get bullied for being clever, they always end up richer and better off than their bullies. So tell your son... his time will come!
this post is useless without pics!

We all agree it's a bad thing. What strikes me as odd is that it still exists to the extent that it does. Our kid was on the receiving end of bullying on one occasion, in the first year of secondary school. One of the sixth formers came across and said to the bully 'This is Streatham and Clapham High and we don't allow bullying at this school. If this ever happens again I'll take you to the headmistress'. And that was that.

i thought you was going to burst in to some Kenny Rogers for a moment there Linford! ^_^

Just to show that bullying still goes on (and yes, I do recognise that this is in the Daily Fail so it's doubtless biased, slanted and exagerated), but this lad has had a kicking from three others and he has a range of developmental difficulties, including Asperger syndrome. What made my blood boil was that there were three lads dishing out the grief. There must be some sort of hard-wiring in bullies' brains that makes them want to gan up on other people!

I know I'm slightly late to the party, but just wanted to say to the OP, that my daughter was bullied for about 2 years by a group of girls after joining a new primary school.
When they moved up to the local senior school everything changed. This particular girl was no longer "cock of the walk" and my daughter was able to escape that small circle of girls and made friends with girls from out of the area, and hasn't looked back.
I hope it will be the same for your son once they start the school in September.
