Wow Ian, do they acknowledge you exist? When I started my own practice, I took MissA_T to first school every day.
The mums all seemed to know each other and always chatted in groups but blanked anyone [especially the occasional dad] they didn't know, even after several months, yet Mrs A_T was welcomed into the pack!
Never been more ostracised before or since. I'm not that strange!

A couple of them have just started asking how I am... not bad since I have been dropping litt'lun off since April.

I can't really get worked up about school runs in cars
The only reason I go to the school gates is to look at the yummy mummys
I had to stop recently, there were mutterings. Well, I haven't been taking the kids there for at least 4 years.

I live 300m from the local primary school. My kids went there and they always walked.

The school mums are simply a bunch of air-headed witches, most driving cars way too big for their tiny brains.

I avoid the area like the plague at in and out times. Never seen any thing like it, the most appalling driving and lack of consideration, totally selfish the lot of 'em.

A pal of mine was picking his daughter up from secondary school and while he stood outside the building amongst the mums, he sent a text to his wife to say he was already there and that she could head straight home. One of the mums accused him of taking pictures of the kids and reported him to school staff. The school then called the police and kept all the remaining children locked inside until my mate suffered the indignity of being taken into a police car for questioning. Not a hint of an apology from the woman who kicked all this off.
You just can't be male in a child's environment these days without people questioning your motives.

Lots of parents live near us and have the same problem. We'd love to find another way but we are both working parents and need to get to work.

My wife starts wife at 7:15 so that she can finish in time to pick our daughter up from primary school. I start at 10:00 so that I can drop her off in the morning. I ride into work and my wife uses the train. We started this when my daughter first went to nursery and it was over 2 miles back to the station. The car pretty much stays unused during the week. There are ways around things.

I take my daughter in the car every morning, and drop her and the wife off outside the school, then carry on to work, and leave the wife to walk back home.
Funnily enough its our choice in a free world to do such an hideous crime , then I remember I don't live in a dictator driven country and do have the choice if I drive 20ft or infinity to school

Bad driving is bad driving , it does not matter if its a 4x4 , a super mini , a stretched limo , a bus , a truck, and bicycle , a skateboard, a biscuit tin lid on a marble, its not the wheels , or the gearbox transfer system its the person driving that creates problems.

I might get a 4x4 next week and do some doughnut burnouts on the way to school, just to pi*s some tree huggers off.

I do deduce from this thread that women cannot drive and think/look at the same time, is this a eureka moment ?

Possibly the most sensible thing I've read for a few days...

Testify brother! Mrs Dr Bollo is the full-time one in our family so I've always been the one at the school gates. I remember when Bolletta started in reception - this was before home working was that common - it would be me and 59 mums in the playground. Maybe the odd dad on a day off or embarrassed looking grandad, but I was the only regular. Luckily I knew a few mums from nursery days so I wasn't completely ostracised and that helped in the longer term, but there was no way I was going to be included in the mums' mafia. I couldn't give a stuff personally, but there were occasions where Bolletta missed out on the after-school social side just because I wasn't 'on the list'.

I can relate to that 100% ! I need a 'Get by in mumspeak' phrasebook.
I did volunteer for a school trip recently, so I do know a couple of mums now.
