Need a new tyre for my weekend off road* ride in to Epping forest.

25% Road
65% dry trails (dry stone or hard sand)
10% wet mud / wet sand.

Bike is a new Giant Roam with Giant 700-40 tyres (Giant S-RX4 X-Road, 700-40). But seem to have a puncture with them almost every weekend. I don't need super puncture protection but the Giant tyre seems to have none.

So, I have narrowed it down to

700-42 Hurricane
Or
700-35 Sammy slick.

Out of this two, I think I prefer the slight extra width on the Hurricane for some ride comfort but it's a bit heavier.

Are these tyres good for Forest trails?

Opinions please..

I believe the Hurricane is a new model from Schwalbe, as if that makes any difference.

Mate of mine has just put them on his MTB for his cycle path/road commute and is pleased so far.

Rolling resistance much less than the stock WTB tyres.

Assuming Sammy is indeed Slick, I don't think you want that because a bit of tread makes a difference on cinder, gravel and forest paths.

Thanks all..

Have ordered the Hurricanes.

Did look at the Land Cruiser before but it looked heavier and the Hurricane looked better to my untrained eyes.

Thanks again.
