With credit to RecordAceFromNew, An article he quoted in this post was most illuminating when choosing what pressures to put in my tyres. Though I do use more than the article recommends.
OT, I use slightly more than the article recommends too, it might be coincidence when I tried running at the recommended pressure, I started to get more pinch p'tures than normal but it may have also been I was running a 22mm front. I run around 95-100psi front 100-110psi rear iirc the article said about 15-20psi less.

That a bit of a coincidence that, I was up all night with my youngest son complaining of head pain, he could not look at the bright lights so off to the emergency doctors at 3 in the morning, diagnosed as ear infection.
has for my ride yesterday (52 mile) it was also with new 105 rear mech, cassette and chain plus tiagra chainset , I also set off with trepidation, rightly so as it turned out, snapped the chain after 10 mile into 3 bits while setting off from traffic lights, hope you have better luck and both kids get better soon. ^_^

Cheers mate. Hope your kid is better too.

Managed to get out for a short ride. Roads were damp and the tyres felt good. It was all flat though so no climbing and high speed cornering but the grip felt good on the Krylions

Forgot to add my new rear mech and chain didn't explode (yet) and the new wheels felt good.

Until recently had the Ultremo ZX on and was extremely impressed by them

Very quick tyre but not tough enough for the roads around here

Now on Conti Gator Hardshells, not done much cycling since I put them on but first impressions are good

Ben out a few times over the last few weeks with a friend who has just started cycling, he uses Hutchinson Nitro, makes my heart stop every time we come to a bend that is slightly wet, had some very near falls, they seem as if they are on ice, no grip at all.

Had one ride on new ultremo zx's and thought they were slower than the luganos they replaced. Think that was more to to with me though as i felt tired the whole ride. Will have another go when feeling tip top.

now fitted and working, I can really notice a difference in the ride with these tyres on, fell very fast

Hope your son is better

Looks like you got the mech, cassette and chain sorted too

I've done nearly 200 miles on the Krylions and so far so good. I got one flat but that was down to the plasticky rim tape at the valve hole and a rough bit of road I couldnt avoid that burst the cheapo tube that came with the bike

Aren't tyres weird things? Everyone has different experiences with the same tyres. I've never had this problem with Rubinos and lots of people mention GP 4 Seasons which I don't think I'd ever buy again. It looks like I may have to give Krylions ago at some point though.
i agree about the rubinos. used them for years and with absolutly no problems great all weather tyre

I like Ultremo ZX for pretty much all road riding. Yes they are not the most durable tyre, but averaging about 1 puncture per 500 miles I do not find too onerous.

For grip and outright speed they are hard to beat.

They are sometimes on offer for £20 - which is when I buy a few to stock up.
