Just to add to the pleasure of the rain here in Cambridge today I got a puncture, not one of the 8 cyclists stopped to see if I was ok.....

So I took the wheel off, got the tube out, BUT the valve wasn't screwing onto the pump. After a while, with some force it did. I put some air in the tube to find the hole in the tube, and then went to unscrew the valve from the pump.

One half of the valve remained in the pump and I couldn't remove it. I had to call my beautiful wife to come and get me.

Now I'm at work the bloody thing is knackered, the valve is totally useless.

From memory I think I've posted about these tubes before (lesson not learned)

Can anyone recommend a one piece valved tube that won't fall apart on me when I need to fix a puncture?

This can happen with any tube, and is often more to do with the pump than the tube. I would check that the gripping bit of your pump is not damaged. They don't last forever and the fit is critical.

Schwalbe tubes usually come with the cores tightened unlike Conti but a good tip is to tighten the cores up before use especially if you have a screw on pump .
