Screw you bottom bracket

I had to post this because I am so proud that i finally after 2 hours of swearing and bashing I have got the seized bottom bracket out. Moral of the story never assume that the bike was greased before assembly.

An electric drill, a claw hammer, some screwdrivers and a chisel. Where's the BB tool?

Oh I had the tool which I tried first even hung of it did nothing.

Yes over the years i have lost count the amount of time i have struggled to undo things for same reason

And when a previous owner shows or tells me how well serviced his bike is i always take it with a pinch of salt

Never put salt on a BB. It reacts and welds.

My rules for BBs, never do them up very tight, take them off every few months and refit.

I guess it's your time to waste! I'd rather ride, so I grease the threads and do cartridge BBs up properly with a torque wrench. Not had trouble getting out one I've fitted.

My BB is also seized on the non-drive side. I've used the official Shimano tool but no joy.

The other side came out easily but this side - no joy. All I did was scuff the "thread". I was thinking about brute force but have stayed away from this so far. Maybe I need to have another go! I don't mind destroying it as I have a new one to replace it.

How long does it take to remove a chainset and BB and refit? You can go a long way in 15 minutes, unless you are riding on the pavement on a bike fitted with stabilisers of course.
