scuff help?

Hijust bought a new hybrid bike Matt black paint my foot rub against main frame the rubber has left a scuff its not a scratch I can't rub it off do anyone no anything I could rub mark off with?

you could try WD40 and a cloth or Gt85 and a cloth

It depends on the finish, if it is lacquered it may come off with a cloth, be careful not to polish it.

Higuys what do I do dab wd40 on the rubbed area leave for a bit then rub? I dont get why rubber from shoe marks paint and you cant rub mark off with water. it's not like if its a scratch. if bike was older you don't worry about it so much when it's new can't stop looking at it

If your foot is contacting the frame then you need to look at your set up - it shouldn't do that - yuo can some scuffing on crank from shoes but you shouldn't be hitting the frame

Hi my foot touched frame when I mounted bike quickly was rushing a bit. Im wearing slippers on bike when rideing from now on if matt paint marks that easy It must rub off with something surely? it's only rubber from shoe scuffed frame it shows up well. I will try wd40 later like one of the guys said. Yet someone said dont it will mark paint?

How can you see a black scuff mark on a matt black frame?

Are you sure your shoe hasn't just slightly polished the matt finish? My matt black Roubaix is going glossy along the top tube where my knees sometimes rub the tube.

Perhaps you could extend your advocacy of 'talc' to this? It would allow your knee to slip over the top tube more easily and avoid it going glossy (the tube, that is).

Although it's new and your current pride and joy, scratches and scuffs happen. Always good to get an early bit of damage before you get too precious about it. Oops, too late!

Ha ha! I'm a little knock-kneed and as long as my cleats are set up right there's no problem, just that occasionally when I'm out of the saddle a knee will rub the top tube. Somebody said recently that my son and I look identical on our bikes and sure enough, the poor lad has got the same knee joints!

Is it your heel rubbing on the chainstay? Chainring side? I've found this can happen with heavier soled SPD shoes(or trainers), and especially with bulky overshoes. A pedal spindle washer may help by moving the pedal out by 2-3 mm (I use an alloy sump-plug washer - dont pay £s for a 'special' bike one). A 'magic' white sponge might work to remove the scuff-mark, but be careful it might remove the finish. Otherwise why not protect the area with a frame protection sticker, or helicopter tape?
