Surely you would only hide a serial number if it was stolen?

I would say its been stolen at sometime, the ebayer here may have brought it in good faith but I would bet a pound to a penny someone, somewhere is missing a Dolce.

that and the sellers general inability to say anything constructive about the bike or where he got it from etc.
I would walk away- as have others- hence the current price.

Would you buy a car with a ground off vin?

Id avoid it, may have been through the system and sold off via auction tho so straight if it has some proof

It is his Xs bike and he has filed the numbers off. it is not his to sell. Dodgy to say the least. You could not give that bike to me. Yes it will be an Alu bike, it wont rust. If you buy it and the police stop you, there will be some explaining to do.

I'm not looking to buy, well not a small ladies bike anyway.
Just saw it and wondered if it should be reported to the police at all?

I would say its highly likely to have been stolen in the past but probably not by the guy on ebay .

Surely no thief would mention a filed off serial number in a for sale add.

My guess is he only discovered the filing after he bought it and now wants to get rid.
