Decided that my lovely Brommy needed a service, so off to my LBS. He said yes, not a problem, but I'd need to get any specific parts. So bought chainring, chain and rear sprocket, as I knew they were well worn, costing £65. Service done, charged me £77 including replacment cables and freeing off a seized rear brake caliper. Thus, total cost to me was £142.
Out of curiosity, I dropped into the Brompton dealer / agent ( a well known national company ) and asked the price of a service; £175 plus parts.
So from them, the service would have been at least £240 plus the cost of the cables.
So I saved a wad of money and supported my LBS; result - !
