well played accy. No family at all? That's really sad.

My brother's a solicitor and he says sometimes he handles estates where the person has only just died and relatives have stripped the house. Clocks, paintings, the lot. The body isn't even cold.

It sounds like you bought a little bit of joy and happiness in to her life in the last few months so take some solace in that.... As you said its a pity not one person closer (In distance) than you were worried about her, but it seems she probably died peacefully in her sleep knowing her dog was cared for and looking forward to Christmas day with you and your family

Once again thank you all for the kind words. I've been to see her next door neighbour today and put some flowers outside her house. I'm not into mass mourning(but each to their own if they want to) when people lay flowers for folk they didn't know but i felt i had to mark the event as i knew her and no one else will bother it seems. According to the police via her neighbour there will be a post mortem to find the cause of death. I've asked her to keep me informed of funeral arrangements as me and the little dog want to be there to see her off,and to make up the numbers as i don't think many will be there.

I can only echo what the rest have said, you did good and brightened up her final few months. Hold your head high.

It was Sheila's funeral today, four weeks after she died. It was better than i expected as most of her relatives turned up. I took her little dog who behaved himself and got a mention from the vicar/priest about their happy times together.

This was played as the curtains were closed.
