Hi folks

My gears are not shifting as they should, I have changed the cable and adjusted the gears as best I can fitted new jockey wheels and chain. How often do the shifters need replacing it’s over ten years old the bike.

And do you think it may be the right hand shifter?

Any thoughts would be welcome.

Thanks Eldridge.

Ok thanks fellas

A bit more info

It’s a Boardman comp and it has Shimano Tiagra shifters. The inner and outer cable was changed.

I’m thinking rear mech or shifter but not sure tbh.

There's your problem. You don't sound confident and therefore probably not capable. Have someone show you how to adjust gears so that next time, you don't have as many fault-options to choose from.

Cough, Tiagra isn't MTB !!! (you mean medium or long cage)
Ok ... nope, I meant Tiagra flat bar shifters hence the quote marks To distinguish from road brifters

The Shimano Tiagra Rapidfire Shifters are precise mountain bike style shiftersdesigned for road bikes with flat handlebars and 10-Speed drivetrains. Come with visible optical gear display and complete set of cables
