Hi,

I need to change one or probably both of my chainrings on my 50/34 5600.
Surprisingly, there are not that many available replacement parts available.

Could I use a (11-speed) 5700 chainring or even 5800/R7000 one or is that a silly idea?

Thank you

You need 5 bolt chainrings I think with the same BCD

Both 5800 and 7000 are 4 bolt 110bcd.

You'll need a 5 bolt 110bcd chainring. Shimano 5700 will fit, along with many others. There's lots that will fit.

As a sidenote, Tiagra, 105 and Ultegra are also all completely interchangeable provided that you are obviously using parts designed for 9/10/11 speed as appropriate.
The 5600/5700 thing Shimano I believe said contained design differences in manufacturing that made gear changes smoother. I'm sure there's evidence to back that up on a computer somewhere in Japan. I don't think most humans could notice though. I certainly couldn't tell any difference...
