Help! Sorry if this is an obvious question but I have a four year old Claude Butler hybrid that i want to use to learn more about maintanance and repaires. The cassette is worn and needs replacing so purchased a basic new one plus a TL-HG15 'standard' cassette lockring remover (which fits the new cassette) But..the lockring remover is marginally too large and I can't remove the existing Shimano cassette from my bike.

I thought that the Shimano size was standard...wrong I fear but does anyone have any clues of what I need?

Cheers

Erm...hate to ask, but are you sure that's a cassette on there? It could be a freewheel, and the splines look pretty similar.
Got a photo of it, or can you tell us how many cogs and what size (smallest and largest would do)?
