Also in 2X (48/31 or 46/30) for those with brains capable of dealing with the complexities of 2 chainrings.
I wouldn't go out and buy it, but may well select it over 105/Ultegra if I were to get a new bike.

1x looks better on a Moulton because you don't have the tiny chainring and massive sprockets! Apart from that, it makes a certain amount of sense (to those of us who grew up with 5-speeds).

About time Shimano did this. Been using the SRAM 1x 11 speed set up on my commuter / winter bike (On One Pickenflik fitted with road tyres) for the last two years and find it excellent. One less thing to worry about cleaning / maintaining and has all the gear range I want.

Only times I prefer a standard 2x set up are on fast flat rides where it's nicer to have less of a big gap between some gears, and on very long descents where you spin out on the 1x biggest gear of 42:11 - but as there aren't many of these in Surrey it's hardly an issue.

It's considerably better looking than the road going 105 and Ultegra cranksets and a 2x option is an excellent idea. No 10 tooth rear cassette option though, which is limiting, doesn't quite give you the top end range if going from a double 50/11 to a single 42/11, so you'd have to stick to a double for that top end gearing.

Not so sure that is a problem to be honest, 42x11 at 90rpm is still around 28mph - do you regularly pedal at that speed, I don't, I'm usually freewheeling by that point.

Downhill and not often but, hard to believe I know, I have run out of gears on a 42x11 setup doing about 30. I suppose I could have pedalled faster, 110/120 but at the time I just wanted a bigger gear for a more relaxed cadence. That was on the way down into Betwsy on the A5, you probably know it.

Yup, I know the one, it's a nice sweeping descent and I do take advantage of a 52t front as much as I can!

Anybody bought it yet?

I’ve ordered it should arrive this week, fitting it to a kinesis gtd. hard to find real world experiences of it. Lbs convinced me to go for it.

Brilliant! At last some inline hydraulic levers.

I really miss the little cross-top levers I had (have really) on my old TCX - they're on the turbo so they're no real use on there.

I wonder if they can be retro-plumbed into my 105 Hydros?
