Hi All,

Another dumb newbie question!

I have taken delivery of my shoes, but the pedals have not arrived.

Shimano MT53 Multi-Use SPD Shoes Black

Are these OK to wear with normal pedals? Or should I wait for the pedals to arrive?

Thanks again for your help.

Regards

Thanks Ffoeg,

I wore them in today, what a difference stiff shoes make! So much easier. Looking forward to the pedals, but will spend some time cycling around on grass first!! I know I am a chicken!

Good stuff!!

Nice shoes (or boots) are the MT53. I've got the MT51which are an older incarnation and think they are great. They were also my 1st SPD footwear

I wouldn't bother with the grass. Just slacken the adjusters off so they are at their minimum, click in and ride normally but practice the clipping out/in whilst you're traveling so you have it down pat when you need to stop for real. Clipless is so intuitive, it becomes 2nd nature almost instantly, and most of the trepidation comes from what you assume it will be like.

In 10 mins you'll wonder why it took so long make the leap to SPD.s
