Look are at a low spot on QC; I've sent back two pairs to Wiggle because the bearings developed play with clicking noise and on both sets the pedal body fell off the spindle.
Yes, I think a few people on Cycle Chat have had issues with Look pedals. IME my Keo Classics have been great, no issues at all.

I wrote the the Look brand manager at Fisher the importer and got the dismissive reply: "I use Look Keo pedals and I think they're fine". Well, he would if he gets a new set whenever the old ones fall apart.

Shimano SPD-SL are much better quality, wider and offer a better platform. Even the rubber buffers on the cleats last for longer.

On other forums, there are people complaining about SPD-SL wear and cleat issues though. There's always someone with a story...
