Ah the joys of being an oliy engineer and working gear being a boilersuit during working hours, tee shirt and shorts off duty.
I hear they're sending you west of Shetland in October:thumbsup:.

One of the lads in the office asked me yesterday if men could wear shorts in the office, so I just said I don't see why not, if HR have an issue I'll deal with them when they raise it

In the office we used to have unofficial dress down day on Friday. One day 1 of the engineers turned up in an allegedly expensive polo shirt with a brand name emblazoned across it, strutting around bragging about how much it cost. That was the first time the FD came in on a Friday, the engineer was called into the FD's office and told not to wear it again as it was only suitable for wearing whilst doing dirty jobs around the house. Said engineer was furious we thought it hilarious, well slapped down.

Shorts are not allowed in the office
I think there ought to be guidelines though. Not overly pale, for example. Seen man legs which haven't seen light all year, sallow-haired, and varicose veined, with socks and sandals?

NO!
Hang on, just because you come with a healthy tan as part of your factory settings, don't try to stop us pasty white guys from enjoying a breeze round the knees when things start to get sticky. :heat:
