As long as he doesn't frighten the ponies.
Ponies? There's only seahorses where Piemaster's going, I meant way west of Shetland.

You don't work in my head office do you?
Might do.

Just teasing:smile:.

I wear shorts for work and play from about April till October. Why can't blokes wear shorts for work providing they're sensible and smart? You can get posh shorts with creases and turn ups, they don't have to be like something you'd wear on a beach!

I go by calendar too, I'm an April to October man. What with my Mallorcan holiday in June and loads more cycling/short wearing there is a definite tan line! The shorts I wear to circuits are shorter than all the others, it's quite alarming when I run (for many reasons....)

Here for rides.
One of my female members of staff turned up in the office wearing a pair of very short fairly tight 'nude' shorts on Friday. With heels. As she is in her twenties, is very bright, very pretty and has, as we all now know, very, very long legs, all it did was raise the temperature in the office. Good job we have air con. One or two older female colleagues made very pointed remarks to me and I could only point out that under the standards of our dress code what she was wearing was fine.

As it happens I think our dress code is way too lax anyway. Folk wear T-shirts. In theory I could work in my cycling gear all day and be in code. (Though very smelly) Doesn't work for me. I used to wear shorts, tailored ones Bermuda stylee, in the old office (no a/c) but now I just wear them if I'm training it in and change into chino's when I arrive.

I'm sat in work wearing shorts now, Swrve ones as it happens, and they're smart enough with cycle specific features for the commute. (Terms and conditions apply. Advert over)
The culture in our place (homelessness with a mental health specialism) allows for shorts and as far as I'm aware there's no hard and fast rules. We do have to be mindful about our dress. ie not too sexually provocative or intimidating (easy in my case), clean (it might be said some of role is as role model), not suited and booted (potentially intimidating) and avoid military-style wear (which may promote real or deluded associations with clients). In other words, we can wear whatever works.
I've had a similar tiegate in the past. People aren't capable of asking themselves why blokes have to knot a piece of material around their neck, while women can wear t-shirts.
We stopped wearing ties as an infection control measure, and it was weird not wearing one, but is no natural

Research showed that over half the ties tested on doctors contained a range of pathogens that could be passed on to patients

When do trousers become shorts? I've got a pair of workshorts that finish just below the knee, but are they long shorts or short longs?
It could lead to an interesting debate with one's head of department, or perhaps later on the chair of an industrial tribunal.

Seriously though, today's casual dress code for general wear is a blessing. Back in the sixties or seventies any man who dared walk out in a pair of shorts while not engaged in sporting activity would have had the P taken out of him mercilessly and in the rougher areas probably suffered an assault.

The "Good old days" were actually crap for the most part.
