Not before beds and ladders

In 2006 motorvehicles killed over 3000 people by colliding with them.

In 2006 bicycles killed 2 people, one of which was the cyclist involved.

In 2006 lightning killed 5 people.

Ladders kill around 15 people per year in the UK, and seriously injure over 1100

Falling out of beds kills around 20 people per year in the UK

Next time someone says that cyclists are a danger to other people, point out that their bed is more likely to kill them than your bike!!

You made good use of these statistics on a certain bus forum

Never sleep next to an open window, especially if you live in a flat.

Where have the stats come from, please?

My Think! Road Safety leaflet says over 1000 cyclists were killed in 2006.

Cyclists involved in collisions not ivolving motorvehicles caused 2 deaths, one of them being a cyclist, and I'm guessing in a seperate event a pedestrian was killed by a cyclist. I don't really know though.

Mix and match, the lightning figure is from a "1001 off the wall facts" type book that is in our toilet (along with a few of my cycle mags), so is the ladders one.

The second half of a Think! road safety leaflet I picked up at uni because I wanted the picture for something gives the cars and cyclist figs.

Sounds damn fine to me, only for cans and bottles though. Carrying a barrel round might make hills a bit tricky!:biggrin::biggrin:

Ah, you want one of these...

Arch, how long have you been looking after that picture thinking “One day, one day I’ll be able to use it!”?
;)

To be honest, I just google imaged it as 'bike pub'... But I've known of the existance of the thing for years...

When someone makes some daft comment about my cycle commuting along the lines of "well isn't it dangerous going back in the dark?" (which they do), I explain that I'm more likely to be killed or injured by a frozen shoot falling out of the sky from an aeroplane's waste release.
