my dad has started doing that - he'll peel and chip spuds, coat in oil and freeze in batches. Then throw in the AF when they want them. I might try it myself one day
Might try that next time I do home made chips.

Ah - yes
the coating is the problem with McCains - they use flour so I am not allowed them
I am currently trying different own brand ones as they often just have potato and oil - rather than a fancy coating
although I am currently on just making my own as they taste better!
My favourites are Aldi Home Style but I don't know what coating (if any) they have. They are, for me, just the right size and thickness. 200° for 11 mins.... I give them a shake part way through, don't know if I should, I just do it.
You still can't beat real chips in a chip fryer. Even occasional use. Oh heck, that's added another gadget for Accy to decide on.

I did a baked potato on our last night
I just sprayed it with some oil (air fryer specific - not sure what difference that makes!) and put some salt on in
and baked for 35 minutes at 200 degrees
lovely fluffy spud with crispy skin
BTW - chips in mine tend to take 18 minutes
whether frozen or just spuds cut up with some oil on them
I used to love chips in a deep fat fryer.
When the grandkids came i would cut a few slices of spud into 'ginger bread' type shapes.....they enjoyed biting thier heads off.
Got rid of our fryer when they became demonised.
Potato in the microwave for around ten minutes then oil it and bang it in the air fryer for eight minutes, lovely job.
Or one process in a multifunction microwave, of course.
I saved a neighbour's life 30 years ago by noticing the smoke, going into the house (luckily the door was unlocked) and turning off the gas.Yes, thankfully you never hear of chip pan house fires these days! Yes, thankfully you never hear of chip pan house fires these days! Every other week we'd hear of folk dying, houses going up in flames etc, after folk who'd usually had a few too many 🍺fell asleep, to be woken by the smell of burning oil, then panicking they'd throw water on the burning oil! A lad on our street I knew died must be going on for 30 years ago, when he did the water thrown on burning oil mistake. According to reports, the chip pan went up like a fireball, hitting the kitchen ceiling then spreading throughout the kitchen in seconds, then the house! The fire brigade found the lad and his mate who'd somehow survived in the house after they deemed it safe to enter. He was burnt to a crisp, beyond all recognition, according to the post mortem. His parents weren't allowed to see his body in the funeral home, for obvious reasons. 🙄
Being the type who sometimes dozes off after a few 🍺, I think I'll give a deep fat fryer a big miss!!🙄
They are illegal.
Too squidgy and soft.
You need a crispy skin on your baked spud.
EDIT
does the multi function one have that part?
I see Lidl have an airfyer in from today, but probably rather larger thaan Accy would want.
