Bizarrely I got the (kind of) opposite last night... having just played an hour of 5-a-side followed by my cycle home I was about 500m from my road and stopped at traffic lights in the ASL.

Taxi driver pulls up on the inside of me (not literally, my ar*e isn't quite that big) which was no biggie as I was turning right. I looked at him, looked at the ASL and said "This area's just for bikes" - he looked confused and wound down his window to ask what I'd said so I repeated it adding that he *could* get points on his license if the Police decided to stop him... he looked at the ground, saw the nice picture of the bike and said "Oh, sorry!" and started to reverse!!!

Wasn't expecting that!!

I have a suggestion to make. Shall we all emigrate to France? Or Holland. Or Denmark. With stories like these (except Sh4rkybloke's), perhaps we should just leave this country to the shitheads...

Alternatively, I like Mickle's gun idea.

Benfleet. I live in wild Ford Fiesta Chav country. Commute into Fenchurch Street.

Actually it's the 4wd's that do my head in.

Used to do Upminster to Fenchurch St nice trains on that line now although i did like the slam door ones.
Now do Romford to Liverpool St then cycle across to Southwark.
It was a fiesta that i had the run in with, tinted windows etc

Dont go through bank anymore enjoy the Upper/Lower Thames Street more...Used Bank/Cannon Street for years. The pedestrians were fun to avoid down there though.Ironically you are allowed to cycle on pavements in Japan of which I wasn't comfortable with but it did remind me of Cannon Street/Bank in th rush hour.

Bank is akward but better than Lower Thams where you can't travel as fast as the rest of the traffic.

Each to his own, I cycle hackney Road rather than Mile End Road, which I hate, but some prefer.

I come up Queens St which they have now pedestrianised there are very small plaques on the bollards to show that it is a shared route for cyclists and peds but peds don't seem to realise this

I come up Queens

Filth.

The cycle lane near Angel and in Little Britain is like that, shared-use pavement/cycle lane and you get bovines peds blundering about like zombies, tuts and sighs if you ping your bell.
