Ah ha,

Might get these. http://www.edinburgh...roductVersion=1 Gotta admit, they don't look very comfortable though.

I tell a lie, they are way more comfortable if you carry them with the outside bits of the pannier to your shoulder, still not brilliant but fine for bringing everything up from the workshop to the house

I spent ages trying to get shoulder straps for my Ortliebs, as the ones they come with dig into your shoulders and really hurt!

The solution that I found wasn't entirely cheap - but does work well. I went to the Victorinox shop, which sells mainly luggage and bought spare shoulder straps from them. They have clips at the end, so were fairly easy to attach to my pannier (I only bought one, as when I have two panniers I'm not going to make it far off the bike however I carry them) Don't know what the atachment points are on yours - but may be worth a look.

The larger (more comfortable) strap is £30, but if you are th etype to keep receipts and look after stuff it does come with a no quibble lifetime guarantee if it doesn't last. They are very well made and high quality, so (I think) worth the outlay.

Here is the link to the Victorinox website - although I couldn't find the strap on it. I bought mine from the branch in the West end (London) but I am sure they will do them mail order:

Hi,

Thanks for the tips, I'll look into it as I'm going through London this weekend.

To be honest these look interesting and are quite cheap, any ideas if they're likely to fit my panniers?

Also these look comfortable although they're meant for a different sort handle bar bag. I'd be worried they're not long enough although I don't know why anyone would need to carry a handlebar bag over their shoulders.

And lastly, this DJ one is an interesting one. I can see where this is going.

The Planet X ones look interesting - same attachments at the end as the Vicorinox, although you can see straight away that the padding and workmanship is nowwhere near as good. I would say that they will bite right into your shoulders with even a fairly light load - so really your decision should be based on how long and often they are going to be used for.

I just have one and keep it on the pannier that I use the most (quite rare for me to use both together unless weekly shopping or touring) but it is comfy enough that I can walk around town with it in (although the attachement system still feels a little uncomfy) I am waiting to view the rucsac attachment for the Ortlieb's in an Evan's when they have it in - in which case I might get rid of the strap anyway!

Bought the X ones but will have to send them back because as I suspected the clips are two big to fit the holes on the panniers. Silly me, I should have asked them first before ordering really but am in a rush to sort some out as I leave on Tuesday for Spain.

I guess one solution though would be thread something strong through the holes, tie that in a loop and clip the clips to that. Perhaps just thread through the holes a a couple of keyrings? Only thing I'd worry about is that the tension on the plastic created by this will split the plastic? I'm not sure what to do to be honest.

Sorry to hijack the thread ever so slightly, but having never done it, just how easy or difficult is it cycling with panniers?

I don't have them but I quite fancy a cycling weekend somewhere just to broaden my cycling horizons a bit.

Thanks

its alright, my sister says that it makes me look bigger and less fragile from a car, my best bit of advice is have a pair and balance them, having 1 heavy and nothing else on the back can make cornering 'interesting'
