Signs of springtime

Lawn's had its first mow.....Glossop....middle of March....WTF

Gave my lawns the 4th cut of the year yesterday.
First cut was mid January!

I was surprised to see dragonflies on the banks of the Thames last night. I've no idea how seasonal their mating is but I associate them with late summer. So, it's either a sign of spring or it's a sign of dragonflies....

They took me by surprise. It was only half light and I first thought they were bats flying around me until I remembered that bat flight is a pretty chaotic affair.

Neighbours DIY 'ing in the garden. Every year a different neighbour decides to completely relay a garden, put up a new shed, or knock something down. Why does everything involve a flaming hammer. Our gardens are the size of postage stamps but they all seem to think they live on huge country estates.As soon as there is a dry day they are out there spending all spring / summer hammering away and finish just in time for Autumn to put the tools down and go back inside for winter. No one is content to just sit and enjoy what they already have. It's like living on a weekend building site.

Roadies were out in tremendous numbers yesterday, riding in packs, terrible road craft, many of them visibkly rather wobbly.

my xmas cactus has flowered 4 months late this year, in short it still feels like mid winter!

That's interesting, I often wonder how my cactus knows it's Christmas, I don't put out Christmas Cards or decorations within sight in attempt to confuse it, but every year it flowers on time.
