OMG; I just typed that in...

...I am at work
sorry...

Don't worry, I used to be the person that had to check these sites out and report what needed reporting and all I can say is that the single worst place for this was a boarding school where the students got given school laptops... I saw more 'interesting content' working in a boarding school than I ever did working for the armed forces.

But there is a way a right way to start a sentence with a conjunction, and a wrong way
And your point is?

Have any of you read the "Dear John" letter illustrating how drastically punctuation can change meaning? Here it is, in case you haven't:

One way to write the letter:
Dear John:
I want a man who knows what love is all about. You are generous, kind, thoughtful. People who are not like you admit to being useless and inferior. You have ruined me for other men. I yearn for you. I have no feelings whatsoever when we're apart. I can be forever happy--will you let me be yours?
Jane
... and the other:
Dear John:
I want a man who knows what love is. All about you are generous, kind, thoughtful people, who are not like you. Admit to being useless and inferior. You have ruined me. For other men, I yearn. For you, I have no feelings whatsoever. When we're apart, I can be forever happy. Will you let me be?
Yours,
Jane

Builder's vans listing what they do often go half and half. They seem happy with extensions but then then go for hot tub's. Then record shops seem to insist on CD's and anything with initals having to have one.

Yes there are worse things in the world but we can forget about them if we just stick to the silly little things.
CD's is technically correct…

Your You're not wrong there Matthew.

Dos & don'ts?

'Strictly' correct, certainly, but people almost always use:

Do's & don'ts

...and with good reason. Nothing missing, no possession...it just reads more easily. That works for me.

I do see that it looks slightly naked without but cannot find a reason to put it there as it is not indicating a missing letter or ownership.

Records and CD's is just wrong but oddly "Record" is istself missing its "ing" so perhaps has more merit in having one.
I will fly the flag for CDs, LPs and 80s!!
Aah... Records . Don't forget to mention EPs, 45s, 78s, etc.

You probably have hit the nail on the head.
On the one hand we have the rules, with tricky words and some words that look odd.
On the other hand we throw away the rule book and do as we like to make it look OK.

The third way is of course to follow the Americans who opt for "Donut" and "Color". This manages to correct an oddness but then look more odd in the process.
