I can't help thinking that the correct use of apostrophes is lost on the generation currently growing up. The above sign also misuses capitalisation of words.

I've sent a few emails (email's?) back to companies (companys or companie's) saying I'd love to buy their product or service but I'm (Ime or ime) concerned that their competence or quality probably matches that of the grammar or spelling in their email or advert.

I've twice had replies to that asking me what's (whats or watts) wrong.

I've said a number of times that I can tolerate errors on here, it's a cycling forum not a grammar exam, but the same doesn't apply to adverts.

I generally agree with you with regard to how annoying it is to see the possessive apostrophe wrongly used/wrongly not used, but there are a fair few (even highly literate) folk who make mistakes with it, and there have been suggestions that we simply do away with it. For example, on the Tube in London, we have Earl's Court (apostrophe) and Barons Court (no apostrophe).
I bet none of you can confidently (without looking) predict which of these stations have them, and which don't.
