A lot of modern kitchen sinks have their waste traps at low level. This supposidly is progress as it frees up room in the under sink cupboard. The downside to it is that the long pipe runs down to the trap can get a bit stinky. Your plumber may have fitted one but it is sitting, as designed, below the cupboard base, you could take the base plinth off to check if there is a trap down there.

It can be tricky sometimes to match the pipework and the best thing to do is to buy an assortment of fittings to try and caobble something together.

Screwfix maybea better source or better still a proper plumbers merchants.

I had a hell of a job plumbing in our 1 1/2 sink wastes in when fitting the kitchen, used 1 trap for both drains.

Every time I look at it I think I'll have to re-do that at some point..

For the bath I used a slimline trap, migh try that with the sink to save some cupboard space.

The mistake I aways make when doing sink/basin plumbing is to pour water into it when the trap's not yet reconnected. Every time.

Excellent, not just me then:biggrin:

The cowboy who did our kitchen didnt put a p trap in , never responded to our contat etc , got them form find a trader style website.
Anyhow i thought how hard can it be ?...
The p traps have a connector thats wider than the standard 40 mm pipes so i cant get a join

You'll need a short length of 40mm pipe and a reducer coupling to step down from 40mm to whatever diameter your thinner pipe is.

Or they might have a P trap suitable for narrower pipes.

Go and talk to your local plumbing supplier and they'll sort you out.

And, personally, when fitting a new sink trap, I start from the sink end, fit the trap and then work out the bends and elbows to join it to the existing pipework. Leave stuff loose and movable until all is joined up, the tighten it all up when it's finished.
