I wonder if some people finding problems whilst others not finding any issues might relate to Cloudflare? I think the site goes through Cloudflare CDN and they can be "variable". Maybe different people routing to different CDN servers?

Just tried an adblocker on the laptops Firefox but that is still hanging so ads do not seem to be cause beyond just adding to the stalled load of a page.

It might not help solve the speed issue, but ads can be removed without using an adblocker by making an annual contribution of £9 towards CycleChat's running costs. (Click on your avatar at the top of the page, then 'Account upgrades'.)
