Neil Irvine-Hess (the bloke in the middle with shirt off) is doing a fine Freddie Mercury impression - pointed out by Lewis Carmichael (man of the match), both of the mighty Melrose RFC ;)

"The mighty Melrose"...Time was when viewers to the pinnacle of rugby broadcasting, aka the BBC, were treated to the Hawick Sevens...Melrose was an oft repeated word - swirling, nay skirling, from the reservoir of Bill McClaren's descriptive prose, as teams battled for the Ginger McTavish Memorial Cup, on spartan fields...
Great photo! Once upon a time, the call was "cheese", not "open wide"!

Melrose and Hawick Primary 7 schoolkids played each other at half-time in the U20s match last night, in the semi-final of the Bill McLaren cup*; the other semi is at HT in the U20s match v Italy and the final at HT in the U20s game v Ireland.

I also purchased his autobiography this morning:

There I was doing a hospital visit and the woman in the next bed let out two enormous howls of agony. The kind of howl a nurse should attend. It turns out that she was watching the rugby on her ipod with the earphones on. From which I gathered Italy got off to a good start.

I only watch the first half hour and the last 10 mins - the last 10 were substantially better than the first 30.
I watched most of it and I probably exaggerate but it was the French trying to run through the Irish, a block, maul, holding on, penalty, concussion and repeat, until finally the French started putting more than one pass together.
