Thanks for all your replies. Going to see what recordings I might lose if I reduce the subscription and also get more familiar with my BT box and will probably cancel or reduce drastically.

Thanks again

Call retentions, threaten to leave, see what they offer

We had virgin media until we moved a year a go to an area which doesn't have it.
I think the tv package on sky is a lot better than virgin which i found to be a bit slow and clunky but i do miss the virgin fibre broadband which is so much faster than sky fibre.

They upgraded us (for FREE) to the all new singing and dancing V6 box about six months ago, a very nice piece of kit. The old one was indeed a bit clunky but I think they had been in existence since the early 00's.

I have Virgin fibre and Sky TV for that reason (dislike phoneline BB. Foolishly went to BT for a bit, back to Virgin on a better deal once BT hiked their intro price)

Cancel Sky and purchase a Humax FreeSat smart-box. You can use the same dish as you already have, you get more channels than Freeview and you can record, pause and rewind as you did with Sky. That's the set-up I have along with a Netflix subscription. I don't have need for anything else, apart from Sky Sports and I can go down the pub for that.

That is exactly what I did. Dot regret it at all.

I cancelled sky last year as I was paying £80 a month and Virgin is not in our area so I couldn't get a deal at all. I bought a Panasonic Freeview box, and although it works really well, every now and then for some reason it loses the internet connection for catch up. My question is, as I still have the satellite dish would that work with a Humax box?

Yes. FreeSat uses the same satellite. I think most FreeSat viewers are ex-Sky customers.
