Skyfall?

I enjoyed it, best Bond I have seen for ages. Not really a DC fan - doesn't do it for me, much prefer old Irish Pierce

My parents went to see it - apparently my 67 year old mum was absolutely smitten and wants to see it again to catch the bits she missed

I'd say well worth a tenner (take your own sweets ) and a couple of hours of your life

Skyfail, very poor plot with lots of holes in it, no gadgets, no scheme for world domination, could have been cut and shown in an hour long tv special without losing anything. OH and no pussy stroking!!!!

Came home and watched Casino Royale on DVD to makeup for my disappointment , much better filum imo.

not seen the film yet but that fecking theme tune is doing my nut in.... the worst one ever and to date, i've probably heard it 4 times a day since it was released. God I hate my bosses choice of radio station!

Not a bad plot and for once, a believable villain who isn't a mad billionaire out for world domination. Usual car chases etc - loved the start in a Landrover Defender.It didn't break down!! . Dull theme tune by someone called Adele?. However, this is still a good Bond which focuses on Bond, M, MI6 and can be considered the third movie in a trilogy which has reinvented Bond for the 21st century. I enjoyed it, despite some obvious plot holes (SPOILER ALERT):

Bond is shot by mistake and somehow survives a 200ft fall into a river - would have been more believable to see him being fished out of the river. And how does he get money to go boozing?.

The infamous 'Heineken' promo. OK, he's in bed with a woman and the can is on screen for 10 seconds. Much more prominent is the Rolex watch. If you go to see the film, watch how many times his sleeve is up over the watch so it's on display!.

Why is the new Q a 20-something computer geek?. Why do geeks in these movies always look like they've just left school?.

How could Bond work with that woman who accidentally shot him and not know her name?. I sussed she'd be the new Moneypenny when she said she'd taken a desk job.

Best line was when Bond turns up in M's flat:

M: Where the hell have you been?

Bond: Enjoying death.

Well, bond is back with new Q, new M & Moneypenny. Looking forward to the next one to see where it goes.

the theme tune is poor - Adele's voice is a bit like a lift motor.

The Heineken thing was rubbish, along with the Sony laptop and television - but Heineken coughed about a quarter of the cost of shooting the film, so you can see the temptation. I knew that he was wearing Tom Ford clothing, and I imagine that counts with some people, although his suit jackets looked a little tight and a little short (which is not a good look when you've got a bubble butt, Daniel). I think I'm getting over the product placement thing, having endured the first twenty minutes of Spiderman (all that I could take) and the inyerface stuff in 'I, Robot'.

Sod the product placement - is Bond any good? Yes. Daniel Craig is terrific, definitely the best Bond since Connery. Are the chases any good? Yes - the motorbike romp across the rooftops of the bazaar was in the best JB tradition. Is the villain any good? Yes - one of the best. Genuinely sinister, while being not entirely unattractive: far better than so many pantomime Bond villains of the past. Are the babes gorgeous? Yes. Are the one-liners up to scratch? Yes. Are the supporting characters (M, Moneypenny, Q) done well? Yes. And so on and so forth. It had everything a good JB movie should have, and in spades. With the one exception of the theme tune & titles which, I agree, were drear, when so many in the past have been great. I'd call it a good, meaty 8 or even 9/10, myself. With the caveat, as mentioned, that I don't get out much.

We went to see Skyfall, we both felt it was just another hyped up let's spend as much as we can on action and effects and not bother with a decent script, film. Felt cheated into watching yet another 140 minutes plus of product placement!
The Bond Franchise is trying so hard to catch up to the Bourne films it has lost any of the tongue in cheek humour and dare I say Austin Powers cheesiness that kept audiences returning year after year.
Sadly people like familiarity, as evidenced by the huge numbers who went to see the Carry On films and the viewing figures the dreadful soaps and continuation dramas such as Downton attract.
I think Skyfall is acceptable as a action film but isn't it about time Bond was retired!
The cast is full, sadly of talented actors, but even they seem too stifled to put anything other than lacklustre performances in.

the truth is that I was in Dublin with The Ladies and they wanted to go and see it. So we did. I'd seen Casino Royale (which was good) but given Quantum of Solace a miss on the grounds that the title was so very silly. So I was kind of expecting something decent, perhaps as good as the English language version of 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo'. Well, there you go.....but, as I said, they loved it, so, all in all, I'm happy that we went.

Full Metal Jacket, good choice, you should have been more persuasive fella.
Skyfall had a budget of $200,000,000 and was unbelievable from the opening, and forgotten within a week.
Full Metal Jacket had a budget of $17,000,000, Believable and I still remember it 25 years later. Must be the Kubrick effect.

I don't know if it was the same in all picture houses, but at UGC in Ippo at least 80% of the adverts shown before the filim were Bond related!
