In my opinion it is better, so why shouldn't I say it is?
No one asked, it's irrelevant.

Sorry mate but try being more open minded and reading the actual posts
First, who is we? Next, Cycling has far more financial interest as a sport than Rugby League, and I wouldn't call that a major sport, I'd stick that with minority interest such as Rugby.
In fact, for England, I think outside of Football, most sports are minority, and very localised to the area in which you come from.
the sport needs bums on seats to grow, people won't travel 45 miles down a motorway to an away game, what chance is there of a 200 mile trip?
Not really relevant. Was the private school in Cheshire, Kings College in Macclesfield? They are massive in Union, my friend went there, and played Union. He also plays league with me now.
My school was big into football, and didn't play Rugby at all, omg that hatred!
Gee, keyboard warrior or what just after the last word, talk about tit for tat, I was reasonable when I said I must have misunderstood but you keep pushing this agenda, so you do have an issueNo one asked, it's irrelevant.
How childish/facepalm
I think you are being kind saying its ignorance, but even if my description of hatred is inaccurate and you are right it's ignorance it's proof of a very dated view and of Union and league being split by the class systemI used to go and watch the Broncos at the Valley but then they moved back West. I agree it's a shame.
My wannabe grammar school in Burnley saw RL as working class so we only played RU. I don't count that as hatred though just ignorance of both the game and their students.
As a league fan I hope they don't change the rules, if they made it more like league we really would struggle to make an impact.I think even more nuanced rules would benefit RU immensely. That should go a long way in persuading hovering neutrals, like me, that it's a game worth watching.
Don't get over-excited by my contribution. RL is too often drearily one-dimensional IMHOAs a league fan I hope they don't change the rules, if they made it more like league we really would struggle to make an impact.
Like my welsh colleague said, they are delighted English rugby union are a mess, if they got their act together they should and would be the best in the world with the wealth and amount of players they have
I hear that a lot, and I see why some people think that, but for me those stages in games are the attritional wars that go on, I enjoy watching them play out waiting to see who cracks first, maybe that's because I grew up with it and played it, saying that I played Union as well but a lot lot more leagueDon't get over-excited by my contribution. YC for repeated infringements is already in the Law. "Skipper, come here! That's three offenses in quick succession/similar offenses. I'm out of options. Speak to your players!" Referee's assessors aren't keen on it being used I'm told. It's not easy. Hence I think that really being tough on yellow cards is integral too. Otherwise, like you say, cynical players will just kill the game and accept the penalty. Howsabout a yellow card for every third penalty conceded by a side? It's a bit of a nuclear solution but maybe it's the way. Points scoring matrices show the effect of going down to 14 is really important
I like your idea of some offence between free kick and kickable penalty
I fear you are mistaking 'hatred' of your game with 'hatred' of your class. Or your assumed class with the assumption based on your game.Sorry mate but you seem very naive, I used to think like you but after traveling and speaking to people in RU areas the snobbery is alive and well. Maybe if you only speak to people in RL land you only see one side of the story.
And there you have one of the key features of the game.I hear that a lot, and I see why some people think that, but for me those stages in games are the attritional wars that go on, I enjoy watching them play out waiting to see who cracks first, maybe that's because I grew up with it and played it, saying that I played Union as well but a lot lot more league

Working class Union clubs get treated in much the same way!
I'll go along with that.I think you are being kind saying its ignorance, but even if my description of hatred is inaccurate and you are right it's ignorance it's proof of a very dated view and of Union and league being split by the class system
