Slicks on a MTB.

I have an old Forme hardtail and am considering putting slicks on it for road riding in situations where I would not leave any of the best bikes locked up for long.

What is the tyre width range I can use on the rims as follows? Currently it is shod with 26 x 2.2 knoblies.

AT24, 26X1.5X32H DOUBLE WALL

Cheers for the suggestions chaps. I'm really after knowing what is the narrowest I can go down to on those rims. I assume that the 1.5 in the spec means 15mm internal width rim.

I have run some Geax Street runner 1.25 inch tyres on my old mtb for years with no problems. Fast and puncture resistant.

FTFY. No one would be quick on acid

I ran 2.1 Cityjet and they were quite a decent and cheap slick. No experience of others though as I never wore them out.

I use Durano 26 x 1.1 folders on regular MTB wheels

I've run 1.2 Hutchinson tyres before. Very fast but the bike looked weird.

I've got shwalbe Big Apples on my old MTB. They look great, they're comfy, they've got plenty of traction and can happily ride all day on 'em.
(thin tyres on an MTB just don't look right, IMO)

I did as you are doing about 3 years ago and was pleased with the Kenda Kwest tyres that I purchased. At the time they were slightly cheaper than the City Jets.

I would of thought 1.5 would mean 1.5 inches not mm , I would just take the tyre off the rim and measure the outside size of the rim and order a tyre that was at least that wide.

I've gone down to 26x1.3 in the past. When i couldn't afford a road bike, it was an easy move to get me moving quicker!

I went down to 26x1 very quick, but kept on getting pinch punctures
