I remember when they'd have a prize in darts for the highest finish of the tournament. Unthinkable now that there wouldn't be multiple 170s. It's now almost more likely than not that you'll see a 9 darter in a tournament

Exactly. There is a 9 darter most weeks now.
The standard is so high and the equipment so much better.

He doesn't really look like an athlete it must be said, but appearances can be deceptive.

He is no lightweight. His exuberant lifestyle hints that he is more than a bit lost so maybe the Iron Man was a body image 'idea'.

Watching Ronny this morning, he played well. But the post match interview was difficult to watch. I still can't work out what he's going to come out with next, I would not want the task of interviewing him!

He’s sometimes very difficult to like or understand. He just seems to strive for unachievable perfection all the time.
If his constant negativity gets him motivated then carry on. But he definitely sucks all positivity out of every situation. He must be awful to live with.

I've always found it rather disrespectful to the player he has just beat when he constantly whinges about how terrible he played.

Yes agree. I don't think he means to, but he comes across as quietly arrogant and a bit of a narcissist. I think he has a lot of MH issues all going on at once. He is still good to watch when he's playing positively but I'd prefer to watch another match if he's not playing well, as you can almost feel the thumbscrews he's turning on himself.

I usually have to turn off when he is interviewed. I have long held the position that he should never ever give interviews. It might be the interviews driving him away, O'Sullivan being his own enemy.
Those broadcasters should know better !

He is not that different from anyone else. But his mind always puts words to his angst.
It is just a permanent manifestation of that angst. That absurd ultra focus is what made him great.

If only he could stick to going for a run and/or avoid all interviews. Or even take up the 'art of saying nothing' as a new permanent hobby.
