Snow/Ice advice urgently needed!

Edinburgh seems have escaped it too for the moment!

My back brake has been sticking so I've been using the front brake more which isn't ideal in poor weather; I better sort that back brake (somebody crimped the cable in the bike stands at uni). I've got a new cable but I haven't got any end caps to hand.

I got home fine

The roads which were un-cycleable were pretty clear, so I cycled the majority of the way home, then walked for the last 10 minutes where it was too icy/snowy. The main roads were fine apart from the odd chunk of ice.

I have *just* enough clearance for 28mm tyres, would it be worth putting those on and running them at 50 psi?

I went on my recumbent trike today! Thankfully I no longer have to commute but it was nice not worrying about falling off.

I put my 28mm tyres on, and ran them at 70psi front / 80psi rear. Much more grip than yesterday! I was cycling on smooth ice and I only nearly fell off once!

I should be fine with these 28mm tyres for the winter, unless the ice gets even more slippery.
