South east from London ..on the coast? That's where I live.
It was near some kind of land preserve and the water was like a delta or swamp since it hand land bars separating water. The house had 2 bedrooms an unusually large kitchen (for Europe anyways ) the living room (lounge) was narrow but the length of the house. It had 2 sliding glass doors in that room right out to a deck that overlooked the water which was maybe 20 feet from the deck. Grey clapboard siding (I'm sure it was painted once which is pointless near water) wide plank painted hardwood floors. It was something like 275 pounds per month plus all utilities but it had wood heat only (which I don't mind). I think it was about 8 miles from a little town (I think it said like 14k). The equivalent of the same thing here would be more like $400 a week (I always figure the dollar is about twice as much as the pound it works for the most part) as it would be considered a vacation rental.
I almost moved to London maybe.... 2005? 2006? Anyway, the rents in London while not shocking, were WAAAAAAY above my budget. So when I saw that it had me looking twice! :smile:

Sounds nice...no.swamps here though...here being about 60 miles directly south from central London.
Strange that your impression of uk prices is as it is, when I was on the states I was forever looking at really nice houses on huge areas of land for sale at half what they would cost here. Mostly anywhere within commuting distance of London is expensive.

There were some stunning properties in Oregon and idaho and Virginia I saw, and I heard that Naples Florida is pretty cheap for what you can buy.

Personally I don't like busy cities, I'd rather be somewhere quiet.

I almost rode down into.north.carolina from virginia, but I decided to stick to the plan and spend a few days on the beach in.Yorktown instead.

There are lots of cheap places sure but when you compare city with city, Based on the size of London is more like NYC or LA and real estate there is very expensive. In NYC you might be able to find a sleeping room (a closet with a bed, no bathroom, no kitchen, not even a microwave) for $500 month.
I used to know quite a few people in the UK but I've lost touch with most now.
If I do manage to get through school I want to intern abroad for 1-2 years. I've narrowed it down to 3 cities but I haven't been able to decide;
Rome, Italy, Stockholm, Sweden or Tokyo, Japan. all three while are very different architecturally, have something specific to offer based on where I want to go with a career.

The bass player in my last band lives in seaford. It's a similar distance east of Brighton to how far I am west of Brighton.
Let me guess, you do folk metal.
I like bands like Apocolyptica, Tyr, and Epica but also Massive Attack and Dead Can Dance. My favorite instrument is the Cello.... maybe one day I'll learn to play..... Yeah right.... I'll stick with writing and drawing!

So you're saying you can't pronounce all of your consonants....
like "Jason" Statham but with an r and an n in there somewhere LOL
